“Postcards from My Grandfather”, featured in ArtDoc Magazine in April 2024

Two images from my “Postcards from my Grandfather” series have been included in the online exhibition Human Stories in ARTDOC Magazine, April 2024.

The top photo is “Postcard from My Grandfather: My Wife is Killed the Son is 16”. My grandfather’s heartbreaking message on the back of this postcard was sent to relatives in the US after he and my father were liberated from the Nazis, and living briefly in Munich. It says “To remembrance from Max Burstein his wife and son, Max Burstein 19, April, 1946, Munich, Bavaria. This picture is taken in 1932 my wife is killed the son is 16 years old”.

The bottom photo is titled, “Postcard from my Grandfather - Yours Very Truly Max Burstein”. On this one, my grandfather wrote: “My son and daughter in our hometown 9 years ago my daughter and wife been killed in Germany. Yours very truly Max Burstein”
